EU REACH

The REACH regulation EC No 1907/2006 has been in force since 1st June 2007 with the aim to protect human health and the environment.

The regulation applies equally for all EU member states and EFTA states of the EEA. The regulation is based on the principle “no data, no market”. According to this principle, manufacturers, importers and downstream users are responsible for implementing and complying with the REACH regulation. They must independently demonstrate the safe handling of the chemical substances in all their uses and applications.

REACH stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and restriction of CHemicals.

Chemetall REACH and CLP actions

Chemetall GmbH and its subsidiaries are well aware of the requirements of REACH and are intensively working on the implementation of the requirements resulting from the REACH and CLP regulations. Chemetall complies with the REACH and CLP regulations as well as with all other chemical legislations relevant to its business. Chemetall will not use substances within its products which are not REACH compliant.

Currently, a team of six people in Chemetall’s Frankfurt am Main office is coordinating centrally the compliance activities for the REACH and international chemical regulations for the whole Chemetall group.

Chemetall has successfully registered all substances under EU-REACH which were identified for registration by 30th November 2010, 31st Mai 2013 and 31st Mai 2018. Substances requiring registration will continue to be registered in the future.

The registration of a substance by Chemetall will automatically lead to a revision of the relevant MSDS. Registration numbers will be mentioned in chapter 1 and/or 3 of the MSDS.

The MSDS of Chemetall products will be continuously reviewed to include the registration numbers provided by our suppliers.

CLP regulations

According to Article 40 of the EU CLP regulation, manufacturers and importers who place a hazardous substance on the market will also have to notify certain information to the European Chemical Agency (ECHA), in particular the substance identity and the classification and labelling of the substance.

Chemetall has already notified all relevant substances to the Classification and Labelling Inventory (C&L inventory) as of 1st December 2010 and will enhanced the notification as soon as new substances are manufactured/imported and placed on the market.
