Primers are responsible for the quality and corrosion protection of the painted metal substrates. In the automotive industry, these characteristics are appreciated especially for forming and joining as well as for welding.
With Gardo® Protect, we offer high-performance thin-film systems. Our first-generation primer technologies are applied on chrome-free pretreatment processes with a coating thickness of 2.5 – 4.0 µm. They afford a corrosion protection that is three to four times higher than that of conventional galvanizing without primer coating.
Our second-generation primers are applied on a chrome-free pretreatment on electro-galvanized or hot-dip galvanized sheet. With a coating thickness of 3 – 5 µm, the corrosion protection afforded with these products is 6 to 8 times higher than that of galvanizing without further painting and thus twice as high as that of first-generation primers.
Our corrosion protection primer technology is ideally suited for excellent adhesion to the metal substrate and also to the subsequent e-coat paint. In addition, it increases corrosion protection in automotive applications, especially in critical areas like cavities, weld seams or flanges.
Metal sheets treated with our premium corrosion protection primers are suited for all conventional welding processes.
