In the aerospace industry our Ardrox® corrosion inhibiting compounds (CIC) make an important contribution to effective corrosion prevention programs. Avoiding or controlling airframe corrosion is essential to the airworthiness of airframe structures. Also modern airframes are very complex and use different metals like aluminum, steel, titanium or even new substrates like carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP).
The Ardrox® AV technology is initially applied during the manufacture of the airframe and re-applied during the service life of the aircraft at periodic maintenance intervals. The purpose of the CIC is to penetrate into open cracks, displace the moisture and form a protective barrier once the film is completely dried. This protective barrier is particularly of importance in critical areas of the airframe e.g. in the lower lobe of the fuselage, wheel well area or in the galley and toilet areas.
The Ardrox® AV range includes state-of-the-art products such as super penetrating, firm and soft film, heavy duty and even high temperature resistant CICs for specific applications.
