glasstec 2022: Successful restart with sustainable Chemetall solutions

"Finally again!" That was not only the feeling of the Surface Treatment business unit of BASF’s Coatings division, operating under the Chemetall brand, but also the motto of glasstech 2022 – the world's leading international trade fair for the glass industry. After four years, the international glass industry met again in September in the halls of Messe Düsseldorf and thus ensured an impressive new start. Chemetall, focussing on the topic of sustainability, was also present.

glasstec has underlined its importance for the global glass industry with its relaunch as a face-to-face trade fair after the pandemic-related break. 936 exhibitors from 47 countries demonstrated the performance of the industry to 30,000 visitors from 119 countries in the International Year of Glass.

The focus was on global trend topics such as climate protection, resource efficiency, urbanization, sustainable value creation and well-being, but also on current challenges such as high energy costs, supply chain bottlenecks or the shortage of skilled workers.

Sustainability in the focus of Chemetall

Most customers have long been aware of energy-efficient, resource- and environmentally friendly solutions. For this reason, Chemetall presented technologies that contribute to sustainable development – such as the cutting fluid ACECUT ECO, the coolant ACECOOL or the release agent AC SEPAROL ECO.

With AC SEPAROL ECO, the glass segment is launching a sustainable alternative to the plastic-based Interleaving Powders currently used (powders applied to the glass sheet surfaces to protect the glass during for transport and storage).

Get in touch with potential new customers

"To meet the industry was really great. In addition, we were able to make very good contacts with new but also existing customers and dealers", says Alain Bretthauer, Global Segment Manager Glass.
