AC Separol: Superior Interleaving Powders for Flat Glass
The AC Separol technology consists of a broad range of high-performance interleaving powders specifically designed to meet the needs of the glass industry.
Advanced polymer beads provide a reliable solution for separating and protecting flat glass panes during transportation and storage, which is now also available in a microplastic-free version made from fully sustainable and biodegradable raw materials. Unlike traditional solutions, which often leave residue marks, are costly and difficult to use, AC Separol eliminates these issues, ensuring smooth, clean surfaces that are easy to wash.
Introduced in the 1970s and continuously refined since, AC Separol interleaving powders are formulated with fine polymer beads that not only prevent adhesion but also protect glass surfaces from corrosion and transport damage. The polymer beads as well as the new sustainable fine particle size and tailored additives ensure efficient, residue-free glass handling. AC Separol is adapted to all common processes (float, coating, silvering, lamination, and bending).
AC Separol interleaving powders are designed with an optimized particle size distribution, ranging from 60-80 µm and 100-130 µm, providing excellent adhesion while avoiding dust accumulation. This allows for precise application and enhanced separation efficiency. The powders are engineered to offer a perfect balance of adhesion and flowability, ensuring minimal slippage, fall-off and homogeneous powder application during glass transportation. The right level of adhesion prevents sticking, while maintaining smooth flow properties for easy handling.
The small quantities needed for effective interleaving require high purity, and every AC Separol formulation is rigorously tested for quality assurance, ensuring consistent and reliable results. AC Separol is designed to remain stable when applied to warm or hot glass, withstanding temperatures of up to 100°C and effectively preventing the glass from caking. It is also fully compatible with cutting fluids used in glass production, ensuring there is no reaction or formation of problematic deposits during the cutting process.
AC Separol is designed for easy removal after transportation or storage. It can be washed off without leaving any residue, making them ideal for subsequent processes such as tempering, silvering, laminating, printing or the float glass process. The additional inclusion of anti-corrosion additives in several formulations of AC Separol further enhances protection during storage, preventing staining and corrosion.
