Chemetall has played a leading role in shaping metal treatment. Many of our high-performance technologies are established and recognized all over the world - for a good reason: They have proven to be successful in millions of cases.

Chemetall’s research and development efforts are geared towards providing customers around the world with advanced and pioneering products and technologies for today and also for the future. Our R & D activities focus on the chemical treatment of surfaces and rely on our global network to develop technologies that are ecologically compatible, allow for a simple and cost-efficient application and yield a product with excellent characteristics for the final customer.

 

Surface treatment innovations from Chemetall

The success of our R & D strategies is demonstrated by the more than 1,200 patents and patent applications which we currently hold in the field of surface treatment and also by the numerous innovations that we have already successfully established in the market. Some recent examples include:

  • Oxsilan®: silane-based pretreatment as an alternative to zinc-phosphating
  • Gardobond® X 4661 (SAM): chrome-free pretreatment for aluminum wheels
  • Gardomer®: lubricants for coldforming
  • Naftoseal®: low-density sealants for the aerospace industry

 

Identifying tomorrow’s market demands today

To ensure that we are working on tomorrow’s key market demands today and that our development processes are conducted efficiently, our R & D is networked on many different levels. First of all, close cooperation with customers guarantee that important ideas for our R & D projects originate from the real marketplace and that the existing or future customer processes and demands are always at the center of our research and development activities. In addition, we are networked with many universities, universities of applied sciences as well as with scientific and industrial institutions around the world enabling us to rely on their know-how about the latest developments and innovations and with whom we cooperate directly for individual R & D projects.
